Grenache & blends
A sweet red variety, Grenache excels in dry regions and for this reason is grown successfully throughout the world. Blended with other varietys is where you may first experience grenache.

Merlot & blends
Merlot is "easy to drink" when compared to other red wines. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot an ideal grape to blend with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet.
