Just of the top of my head try something either the shiraz or cab sav from Robertsons Well, Stepping Stone Wines or even an Andrew Garret red all at a reasonable price....also peter lehmans clancy red and a mount langhi sangiovese if you can find one!!!

Try De Bortoli's Sacred Hill Cabernet Merlot, it is about $8.00. You should be able to buy it in most towns or cities around Australia.

Also Angove's Butterfly Ride shiraz, it is under $10.00 and is a great budget red. Banrock Station Reserve Shiraz can be had for $9.95.

Try some De Bortolli Sacred Hill Cabernet Merlot 2005 @ $3.80 per bottle by the dozen from Dan Murphys Cellars and freight is free.
This is a much nicer wine than wines at four or five times the price. The 2004 Vintage won a Gold Medal for the best under $20.00.Needless to say it did not last for long at $4.95.

The Banrock Station Reserve Shiraz in my eyes is twice the wine Angoves Butterfly Ridge Shiraz is but for some reason it almost walks off the shelf at Dan Murphys, think it must have something to do with the price as when its reduced it is very cheap under 5 dollars a bottle from memory.

Nice suggestion Ray, i must admit i have not had much wine from De Bortolli but i will have to give the cabernet merlot a go, generally speaking a nice blend too......and at that price its not the end of the world if it isnt the bee's knees!

We're running a nice 2006 Outback Chase Cabernet Sauvignon at the moment from Kingston Estate that's smooth & tasty.

Quote:
Previously a sole export brand, Outback Chase is a successful seller in Europe and now available in Australia. A great Cab Sav from the famed Coonawarra region it is perfect for drinking now or cellar (3-5 years) to develop further.
Works out at about $4.58 a bottle or $58.95 a case.

Highly recommended
